Dundee Hills is known for its rich, red volcanic Jory soils, which were formed from ancient volcanic basalt and consist of silt, clay and loam. They typically reach a depth of 4-6 feet and provide excellent drainage. Signature characteristics of the Dundee Hills include bright red strawberry and cherry notes mixed with warm spice and earth.

The beautiful rolling La Colina Vineyard was our first vineyard holding and it’s been an exceptional site from the very beginning, turning out many of our favorite barrels in the cellar year after year.

Our 2016 La Colina Pinot is clear and sharp to look at. A lovely garnet hue indicates youthful exuberance and freshness. The nose is quintessential La Colina with Dundee Hills spice mixed with tea, lavender and mild citrus. The entry in the mouth is cooling and airy, moving into excellent density while staying light on its feet. Whole cluster gives the wine additional flavor and texture to explore. It’s balanced with alcohol, fruit, phenols, and juicy acid all lining up wonderfully. The sum total is a complete and purposeful La Colina that’s encouraged to be expressive and engaging and speaks to vintage and place perfectly.
